Lastly, I loved the barrel sample of the 2017 Saint Joseph Lieu Dit Saint Joseph, which shows the more opulent, sexy style of the vintage beautifully. With classic notes of crème de cassis, black raspberries, spicy oak, and bacon fat, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a silky texture, good concentration and a great finish. It’s going to drink nicely in its youth yet also age gracefully.
